Unknown at this time. In this instance I have to agree with her a little ONLY because I don't agree with me having to pay for it as a taxpayer. I couldn't afford to have it done if I wanted it just as I can't afford to go to college but yet inmates can and taxpayers pay for it.

I don't disagree with her point. Can someone explain why it's wrong? I agree with supporting state-funded gender confirmation. I don't believe prisoners which are already costing us so much to house, feed and protect deserve elective surgery.

1) 'Elective' surgery means you won't die *right now* if you don't get it. It is non-emergency surgery. Cancer surgery is 'elective'. The words you are looking for are *medically necessary*. 2) Gender confirmation surgery IS considered medically necessary.
