The rainbow flag is all inclusive. That said there are many adaptations which emphasize personal identifiers. We have pride flags stylized after national and state flags and there are various flags which highlight the many subdivisions in the community. So I welcome this.

The queer community needs to work on intersectional inclusion, but this seems wrongheaded. As a metaphor, I thought the pride flag was supposed to be a rainbow which covers the whole spectrum of colors of light, reflecting the spectrum of queer experiences.

That's not the pride flag. The whole point of the flag as it was was to encompass everyone. It doesn't need changing.

And yet again gay men find ourselves lumped into groups that we have nothing in common with and without even being asked - this I strongly object to

All the different groups represented have separate issues. Those that hate and would oppress us don't care what our differences are. The idea is that as a whole, we stronger in the fight against hate. Not caring about people different than you makes you a Republican.

The police have no right to change this symbol. It belongs to us and I for one won’t accept them playing PC games with my identity. The can bugger off.

This has nothing to do with the Police, it’s a decision taken by the Manchester Pride exec team
