“She wants to play with mud and be a super bug! Jackie also doesn’t like dresses or her long hair.” And that makes her a boy? Not a budding entomologist with a practical fieldwork hairdo? Trans rights yes, imposing sexist stereotypes on children no.

As a trans person I agree; character could be a trans boy and still like dresses and pink and long hair also. But OTOH plenty would argue "not really trans" in that case. Trans people often under a lot of pressure to conform to gender roles to "prove" their identity

This is truly awful. Mud and bugs and short hair do not “belong” to boys. How very dangerous to go misinforming kids thar not conforming to gender stereotypes equals trans. Not helpful to anyone.

I agree. I was a proper tomboy - still am really - and I'm so glad I'm not a child at the moment. It would be so confusing

Interesting that the author Erica Silverman doesnt appear to have any children of her own.. Also note she isnt wearing pink in any of her photo's online, therefore I conclude she's a trans man. She does have long hair though? Can women wear black & still be a woman?

This is so so ridiculous and misogynistic. How is this helpful to anyone, trans or otherwise.

I wanted to be a boy in that age range; they had fewer rules, more fun & better toys - I cut the hair off my Barbie to make her Action Woman. I climbed & fell out of trees - never felt like twirling through the wood in a tutu. This would have confused & upset me, outing me as odd
