I played Southern Pines GC yesterday and was totally blown away by this Donald Ross restoration. The movement in the ground / land was just amazing.
It was Sunningdale x 5

Mrs Bell would be so excited to see return to play this year’s at Ahhh, the stories and jokes that would be told. Thankful I have almost 25 years of memories (and my own stories) from teaching along side Peggy Kirk Bell at her Golfaris⛳️

I think is a perfect example of that. It usually plays around 6800 yards but it can beat you up if you make the wrong decisions...and it's a joy to walk. I really think Pine Needles is the best course in the Pinehurst area and the best of Donald Ross.

The newly restored Southern Pines is magnificent at 6354 yards . The previously mentioned is up there too - some of the best putting surfaces in the nation.

There aren’t many golf courses that have seen more dramatic turnarounds than Southern Pines GC.
A recent restoration has wiped out a century of neglect and turned it into a legitimate top-50 golf course.
