I like the idea of a half-day holiday on election day. Sleep in, eat breakfast, vote, go to work at noon.

We can win if everyone votes. Apparently, that's the problem. Maybe if there was a lottery, with prize winners selected from the people who voted. Though you'd think electing good government would be a big enough prize.

Holy shit. America doesn’t have a political problem, it has an apathy problem. Opioids?

The enduring lesson of American politics: no matter how outraged or enthusiastic people *say* they are, very few actually care.
-
I don't think this is fair. Many people care but don't believe voting changes anything. Many people don't know where and how to vote. Many people are deeply distrustful of all politicians, for good reason. It's complex.

According to WHYY, it's "three points higher than the last midterm primaries in 2014, but about a point lower than the average for the past several such elections."https://whyy.org/articles/voter-turnout-in-pa-primary-up-slightly-from-last-midterm/ …

Primaries have insanely low turnout. People are also just not that aware of local political issues anymore. Very few people read the local paper or watch local news. That's why you see a ton of cash flow to special elections, they are on MSNBC.
-
The majority of ppl may not see local media, but conservatives do. Outside many restaurants & on sidewalks, are free conservative & Evangelical "newspapers", displayed in their own paper racks. They write and publish covering national & local stories. One way they rally voters.
