Yesterday Great Slate candidates Greg Edwards and Shavonnia Corbin-Johnson, who with your support were able to run a terrific campaign, lost their primaries. It was a topsy-turvy election where districts were redrawn by a Supreme Court ruling only two months before Election Day.

I had hesitated to add Diane to the Great Slate because her campaign seemed to be out of our league. The Great Slate is supposed to be the 'Dollar General' of campaign finance. We go into the districts where the big players won't. And Diane's district is so obviously winnable!

CO-3 has a Cook Partisan Voting Index of R+6, and had a Democratic congressman as recently as 2011. Diane is a experienced and popular state legislator who has received over 60% of the vote in her majority Republican district. She's up against a cookie-cutter Tea Party incumbent.

Her plan in a vast, rugged district that also includes the Rust Belt-like city of Pueblo is to run an intensive field campaign. Coloradans want to meet their candidates. But the national money I expected to see flood into a clearly swing district hasn't materialized.

One thing the campaign needs money for is a new field director/field office in Pueblo (I believe that is the small gentleman on the far right in this photo). Rent for this office costs $1500/month [!!]. Relatively small amounts of money make an outsized difference in these races.pic.twitter.com/QUKXrcjWlQ

Our goal continues to be to expand the universe of winnable races, to maximize our chances of winning the House in 2018. Please help keep this effort funded, so that no House seat this year is lost for simple lack of resources!https://secure.actblue.com/donate/great_slate …

And to Greg and Shavonnia, I would like to say a most sincere thank you. Your campaigns inspired and fired up thousands of people, not just within your district, but nationwide. I have a feeling we are going to see you on the national stage again, and I look forward to that day!

I would also like to mention that at one point, Diane Mitsch Bush was a COBOL programmer. Please take that real token of suffering into account when considering a donation to the Great Slate. This woman was a data scientist before it was cool, and paid a very real price.
