One political move that bugs me in this year's midterms is so many Democratic candidates boasting that they're an Nth-generation native of their district. We're a multicultural democracy full of immigrants. Where your grandparents had sex shouldn't matter.

It's much more signalling about not being a carpetbagger/establishment-implant from a big city in another state than about immigrancy.

Political parties will handpick candidates and have them move to certain districts to run, and if they win, will vote party-line, even against local interests. Declaring generational roots signifies non-carpetbagger status.
