there is no software without bugs of some kind; some bugs can't be fixed without effectively upgrading the OS because of all the dependencies and design decisions. how long do we say you can expect to have fixes and support for before you upgrade?

I don‘t think we should „expect“ anything but instead regulate it that companies have to commit and communicate the amount of years beforehand. A „best before“ sticker for IoT devices etc.
