I mean, if a UBI becomes a real political possibility, I'm all for it. But 20+ years of studying the history of American labor and politics has suggested nothing that makes me think that will be politically palpable.

Another thing I think is being avoided by the UBI advocates is that there is exactly 1 institution in American history that has been able to mobilize working class power into politics--labor unions. How do the politics of the working class get mobilized to support UBI w/o them?
