It appears “welfare for all” is not a very popular policy. Thanks, Finland, for taking one for the team and demonstrating this basic fact of human nature to our UBI broshttps://mobile.nytimes.com/2018/04/24/business/finland-universal-basic-income.html?action=click&modu …

The premise of the article is incorrect, according to the Finnish government. Also, rather unfair to characterize “some people don’t like others getting free money” as opposition to welfare for *all*.

Sorry, I don’t understand that second part. Can you explain the distinction?

People who don’t get UBI complaining about people who do doesn’t say much about “welfare for all” because, well, it isn’t for all.

It's odd to declare UBI dead on the basis of an experiment where the income was neither universal nor basic? It was at least income, I suppose, so one out of three ain't bad.

Also hard to declare dead based on an experiment that hasn't been published yet.

I'm pointing to the political context the experiment was run in, and calling UBI an inherently bad idea, not dead.
