Zing! Except adderall is literally amphetamine. A methylated duck still quacks. The salient difference between adderall and meth is that the government doesn't manufacture high-purity meth for the lower classeshttps://twitter.com/thalestral/status/987435439614144512 …

Real question: have you taken a chemistry course in your life? This is debunked in general chemistry.

I minored in organic chemistry in college, and spent a summer doing chemical research for my professor.

Fair, I majored in chemistry undergrad with a specialization in biochemistry, but changing the chemical structure of a small molecule general changes its biochemical properties. In this case, both are still stimulants, but a methylation doesn't guarantee that.

Certainly not. But in this case, it gives a difference in degree rather than a difference in kind. I was reacting to some ridiculousness in that banana thread

True, but no one would have a problem if you said "Methamphetamines and amphetamines are both strong simulants."

I've made a phenylated precursor to cocaine in a lab before (which the savant in our organic chemistry class picked out), but that "phenylated duck" did not quack for obvious reasons.
