If you don't have time to follow the twists and turns of Democratic politics this spring, I believe a good heuristic for winning is to do the opposite of whatever party leadership is pushing for.

So, two points on that. First, as far as I can tell, the anxiety doesn't seem to match the reality. It's a way for people to what-if themselves into a lather. Second, even if you buy the scenario, it's easily handled by pushing people to leave the race in late May, not March.
