The story I think followers of Trump drama miss is the deep hunger for good government in places where people are struggling. Candidates who can credibly promise that will win votes across party lines. They also pose a mortal threat to a corrupt political establishment

The most radical experiment in American politics today is taking place in Lancaster, PA. Instead of the old dynamic of left vs. right, can we make a Congressional election about bottom vs. top? Because if that can be done, God help the Republican party.

You can help the experiment in Lancaster (and elsewhere!) in two ways: support candidates like Jess on the Great Slate (https://secure.actblue.com/donate/great_slate …), and donate to Beyond The Choir, doing groundbreaking organizing work in Pennsylvania (https://secure.actblue.com/donate/beyond-the-choir-pa …)

Maybe the experts are right, and this kind of race is unwinnable despite the enormous enthusiasm. Let's test the question by fighting our hearts out, rather than dismissing it out of hand. In particular, let's not let the experiment fail for simple lack of money.

If only canvassing worked. 2016. Canvassing for Hillary in New Hampshire, we never saw a single Trump canvasser over 2 months up to Nov. Hillary won NH by only 1000 votes, i.e., he nearly beat her. You can say our canvassing worked. I'd say it didn't have any effect.

It is very hard to measure the effect of canvassing, but it has been my experience that it matters for Ds more than Rs. Rs are always fired up because they see each election as a battle for the survival of white supremacy. 1/2
