I want to talk about the March 31 Federal Election Commission filing deadline, as I've heard a number of people say they want to give to the Great Slate after their tax return comes back in April. Unfortunately, this stuff can't wait.

Now, this is the last reporting period before the primaries (at least for our nine candidates). So these five days are the last time our donations can have an impact on the ugly, broken campaign finance process these candidates are running to reform.

We're trying to get them over the arbitrary but significant threshold of $100,000 each. We did it last quarter, with hours to spare! We've raised $40K each this quarter for them so far. The good news is how this money actually gets *spent*.

Each of our candidates is investing in field operations, which means a combination of phone banking, knocking doors, and doing the kind of stuff I'm trying to get banned on Facebook to identify and reach volunteers. It's effective even though the Democratic party hates it.

The reason the Democratic party hates it is because there's a whole wetlands ecosystem of slime-dwelling consultants who have gotten used to getting rich off of political money both directly by getting kickbacks from spending on TV ads. Field operations mean votes, but not profit
