Am I reading this right? Every single Congressional campaign the Facebook PAC donated to in 2018 is a Republican. This from a company that also sponsored CPAC. https://www.fec.gov/data/disbursements/?two_year_transaction_period=2018&cycle=2018&data_type=processed&committee_id=C00502906&min_date=01%2F01%2F2017&max_date=03%2F25%2F2018&line_number=F3X-23 …pic.twitter.com/3c5Xciz9F6

This company, which wields enormous electoral power and makes a fortune from political campaigns, is awfully selective in its giving. More urgently, why is it giving money to any politicians at all?

Why donate to a party that's not in power, when the majority party has shown it has no interest in allowing the minority to speak? Money talks; why bother spending it on someone with no voice?

In an election year, you might want give election funds to the party that you want elected—even if they are not in power—in hopes that they would be elected to power. Conversely, providing financial support only to fascists is a rather strong indicator that you support fascism.

looks like bulk of their contributions were on 12-18-2017 and included a decent number of Dems. "In 2018" is a misleading qualifier, and I say this as someone who doesn't want to be defending them.

I'm talking about checks cut in 2018 (disbursement date on the chart above). I think it's a pretty plain spoken way of stating what I mean, but welcome alternative language. My goal is not to mislead.

yeh that would be terrible if this blew up in FB's face. TBH, they were probably just spending whichever way the political wind was blowing. No pass for that, though.

Keep in mind that, just as with MSPAC, these companies use their PACs to contribute to people they believe will have an impact on legislation that affects their bottom line. They're non-ideological unless you consider the fact that profits are ideology.
