Your employer was selling bump stocks online until two weeks ago. Ethics is hard when there is no accountability. https://twitter.com/lizthegrey/status/975186326894055425 …

If it's
@lizthegrey you're wrong. -
this reminds me of classic east/west coast culture differences that we need to take into account but don't. (we should learn to be less mean to West coasters since 'giving someone shit' means something totally different to them, and they should learn to be meaner to us)

I agree this isn't bullying, but it is whataboutism. Do you expect that someone like Liz is an *actual* wizardess, capable of fixing large capitalism with a wave of a wand? I mean, if anything, experience at Google dealing with the same category gives you insights here.

Dude. Then criticize the employer. Don’t criticize the people inside for the work that they’re doing. (And if that work is not prioritized the way that you want, ask yourself why that is. Can’t fight to organize your coworkers if you’re fired for being trans.)
-
I respect your work, but you’re flat-out wrong here (and missing an opportunity for alliance to boot). Leave Liz and the other Googlers already organizing alone.

Trans women deal with more bullying in a year than you'll face in a lifetime

How about an accusation of it being a dickish thing to say? I know that diplomacy isn't necessarily your forte or even your goal, but maybe more bridge building than burning? Especially with leaders at organizations where you want to foment rebellion and/or unionization.

If you can't see the bullying you've done - even if not here, consistently and routinely over years - you're not looking hard enough. You routinely punch down at the people working hardest to achieve the goals you want to see achieved. There's plenty of more useful targets.

jsyk, its generally better to react to someone saying you bullied them with "oh, sorry, I didn't realize my actions were being taken that way. How can I improve?" than "nah, didn't happen." The latter sounds like you don't care if you hurt someone, just if you *look* like you did
