Similar logic applies to the power companies. Take enough people off the grid and they will shut down.

It's more like taking my house off the grid to prevent the power company from seeing how much power I use when, deducing what I use it for, and selling that potentially wildly inaccurate information for profit. Which AFAIK my utility isn't doing (yet).

What is necessary is a broad social movement against social media. Deleting one account does nothing, taken in isolation. The right account, deleted at the right time, can cascade a movement if it is handled right. See Rosa Parks, a case study. Much spade work before and after.
