I've been working in data long enough that I'm shocked people are shocked. Anyone making money off ads these days is building competing behavioral targeting models, if you don't you get outbid by people who do.

All good points. But the issue is made deeper and darker (IMHO) when you consider what data appending CA was doing, adding FB data to who knows what else.
