Hartman asked if she’ll be just another rubber stamper. Then praises Democrats “from areas like ours” who have mentored her for the last few years that she’s been “running in this district”. Impassioned cry for... moderateness

Howe on gridlock: cites ACA passage and then repeal attempts. Gridlock is not necessarily bad. Republicans want tax cuts for the wealthy and pain and suffering for the rest. Will embrace any republican who breaks that pattern

Scott on gridlock: breaks out a war story. Lesson during intelligence officer training was always speak truth to power. Batallion commander gave equally precious advice: “do the right thing”. Wants to join problem solver caucus

Audience here is mostly elderly (like at any American political event), but with a whole sector of young people. I count 125 in attendance

Capsule summaries: Ding is a mad scientist in the best sense. Passionate but stumbles a lot over own tongue. Hartman you know my feelings about. Scott is the lone Republican here. Howe is a very fluent speaker but kind of scary intense. SCJ is someone I’m glad we’re funding

Final question: why are you most qualified? Ding says he’s lived the poverty, school debt, has had the full spectrum of the American dream. Then gets back on the science horse, to titters from the audience. Impassioned plea for rationality and evidence

Hartman says she’ll be a strong voice for (looks down at notes) Pennsylvania’s 10th district. Also wants our voice to be strongly represented.

Howe was in the Air Force 20 years, which explains his demeanor a bit. Turns back to talking points

SCJ Democrats must stick together no matter what the primary brings. Hasn’t backed down from tough fights in her personal life, won’t do it in Congress. This is where I grew up, bought sandwiches for lunch as a kid. I know these counties.

Scott claims he’s strongest in general election given service record, being a pastor, tireless volunteers. I agree he’s the best Republican candidate by far
