Loafing in Washington, PA and watching endless attack ads on the hotel TV. Having spent so many months fundraising, it's mesmerizing to see this much money being burned before my eyes (TV ads are the least effective form of political spending).
No, it's quite expensive. You need paid staff to train and manage the volunteers, prepare the walk sheets, do data analysis, and you need to pay canvassers in more remote areas.

Then why have I been doing it for free for the past weeks?! But seriously, we are running a local campaign in a city of about 500k people and we have nothing like this. Then again our entire budget for the campaign is many many times smaller than The Great Slate.
