The disregard of human condition goes back to the robber baron era. Calling a a stop "Pennsylvania Station" and placing it in New York is a fine how do you do. Also, the person who designs Amtrak tickets is a genius: it's less legible and more user-hostile than a NYC parking sign
Also Pennsylvania Stations in Newark, Trenton, etc., all named by the Pennsylvania Railroad. (At a time when there were other railroads operating, and you knew what city you were in. Things change...)
