Soon after Trump was elected, Morganelli posted a series of obsequious tweets (since deleted) angling for a job, any job, in the new administration.pic.twitter.com/l3ifZqH3uM
Morganelli has run four times for Attorney General (and lost), and in 2016 he campaigned for Republican Senator Pat Toomey, so he enjoys wide name recognition and a good fundraising network.
Really the only problem with Morganelli's campaign is that he's not a Republican, but a Democrat. And the DCCC seems to be going to bat for him.
If I told you the national party had come into this race trying to clear the field by pushing out a candidate, Morganelli would be the obvious choice. This is not the year to send an immigration-hating Trump admirer to Congress. That's what we have the Republican party for.
But the DCCC came gunning for Greg Edwards, the top fundraiser in this district (http://www.mcall.com/news/nationworld/pennsylvania/capitol-ideas/mc-nws-wakeup-call-20180305-story.html …). Maybe they worry he's a scary black pastor, or maybe they know he won't kick money back to them like a more pliant candidate would.
