That's not counting the three hour drive north from Lewiston, where Golden and his campaign staff live. Maine is a vast and sparsely settled place—past Bangor, you can pretty much keep your high beams on at night even when on the interstate.

Here in the 2nd District, they also have to deal with an absentee Congressman, who has been hiding from his constituents, and doing nothing for the state. There is an appetite for leadership by grownups.

The money we raise lets Jared Golden and our other candidates spend less time on the phone fundraising, and more time out doing what the incumbents won't do—talking to voters. Some of those voters will go on to form the backbone of a massive canvassing effort this fall
