The whole point is to control the rifle as it fires, not have it bounce around. “It was fun… for about 3 minutes” is the modal review.

The important thing about a bump stock is this: in the US, the definition of “automatic weapon” is one in which more than one round is discharged PER TRIGGER PULL. If you make a little robot that pulls a trigger at superhuman speed, it might technically not be “full auto”.

Until 2017, these things were derided by serious shooters as toys. They’re gimmicks, useful only as party tricks at shooting ranges… … and for shooting indiscriminately into crowds.
