This thread captures the conventional wisdom of how you're supposed to win a Congressional campaign. Hoard as much money as possible, then blow it on advertising in the fall:https://twitter.com/dwbeard/status/959912953368797184 …

The candidates on the Great Slate (and many others!) are testing a different theory of victory, where you build up a campaign operation on the ground, a year out from the election, and bust your ass canvassing and mobilizing voters rather than sending them ads.

People respond to boldness, not just in message, but in tactics. We need to stop writing off half the districts in the country as "unwinnable" because of a self-serving view in the political class of how elections should be won.

The good news is, the experiment is cheap enough that a few thousand working people can try it, without asking for permission. Whether you have $1 or $1000 to give, please support the Great Slate and help bring some fresh life to Washington this fall.https://secure.actblue.com/donate/great_slate …

Whether or not these candidates win, the ground operation they're building up will persist into the next election, and the one after, as a foundation to build on. Good organization is cumulative. A bonfire of money spent on political ads is not.

I agree with the whole thread here (and your approach in general) but the incredible Obama organization just sort of evaporated.

There is another level of sustainability, correspondingly more difficult. But one level at a time, I guess!
