An important thing about the Great Slate: this isn't money that should have been directed to more "winnable" districts. It is money that WOULD NOT BE there at all if it weren't for these candidates, running in these districts. People want to fund boldness and go on offense.

There are a lot of newly politicized people this year who are energized by the thought of winning in contestable rural seats, but are not energized by the Democrats' game plan to win a one-seat majority by staring long enough at spreadsheets of past elections

Victory doesn't matter as much as running in a way that builds capacity for future campaigns, in places that have been written off for too long. That said, this of all years is not the time to be timid about what's "winnable". Anywhere with voters is winnable.
