I looked for places that were rural and R+11 or below on the Cook scale, and were open or had an unpopular incumbent

I completely agree that the Democrats should run a candidate *everywhere*, but Dem candidates have received death threats & dropped out. The party could definitely try harder, but finding people willing to run in some of these hardcore GOP districts may still be difficult.

Especially in small towns where being open about political views different from the norm could get them ostracized or worse. The DCCC should do a hell of a lot more to support the brave people who take that risk, but it’s a tough ask for potential candidates.
