a security key protects you against sites that pretend to be Google, but aren’t, and protects you if someone learns your password

Hmm.. Tried to set my wife up today, cheaped out a bit and got the Yubikey U2F Fido -- which apparently doesn't work with LastPass due to non-Chrome browsers lacking support. Any suggestions? Or should I just buy a normal one?

you should be using Chrome. If you don’t like it, at least make it your and your wife’s Gmail browser. Then the key will work

Sorry, I was unclear -- Lastpass is foregoing U2F support for all browsers until non-Chrome browsers catch up. I definitely use chrome. Random esoteric edge case that she was *not* impressed with when she was trying to login today. I think it's this: https://lastpass.com/support.php?cmd=showfaq&id=8126 …

oh, I see. And I meant to say—though I hate to say it—that you should use 1password instead of LastPass

Oof. Yeah, probably true from what I've read too. Good lord the overhead on switching though.
