I’m not a radical. Airlines can keep the one part of the briefing that keeps passengers safe: “keep your seatbelt fastened”. Nix the rest

FWIW, when I was in pilot school we were taught that passengers have burned to death after surviving the crash because, in a panic, they forgot how to operate the seatbelt. (Which is, of course, different than most car belts.) Repetition helps.

Actual survival tip: If you're on the exit row and have to open the escape hatch, throw it out through the opening as hard as you can. Ignore the safety card telling you to put it on the seat or whatever, they say that to prevent damage but it slows things down.
