The Federal reporting deadline for election fundraising is coming up on December 31. Let me talk just briefly about what that means

First, it means some Webelo intern fresh out of Wharton is going to make a spreadsheet at Democratic HQ called "Viable Candidates?" and delete anyone who didn't clear at least $100,000.

Second, a bunch of corporate Democrats with money are going to look at those numbers and decide whether to contest each race. Some of those Democrats in poor, rural districts are just people who like to run, though they lose every time.

Third, that arbitrary spreadsheet the Democrats made is going to guide funding and endorsement decisions by a raft of PACs and national organizations. (The non-coordinated PACs will have their own spreadsheet, made the identical way)

Here's where we stand on the Great Slate. We've raised a lot of money, and something like the equivalent amount in direct donations. It's not quite enough yet. We have to dig deeper! And I say this knowing that people have been extraordinarily generous.pic.twitter.com/vGbBwQd09O

(Note that Scholten was added later than others, so lags behind. He's great and deserves your support!) My point is, don't wait until the New Year. This is the moment when your donation, however modest, can have the greatest impact on winning in 2018.https://secure.actblue.com/donate/great_slate …

What are the PVIs for these districts? Which ones have long time incumbents vs new ones? Which incumbents are particularly bad or out of step with the district? I'm from ME-2 originally, but don't know much about the others.

some more info in this doc. PVI’s range from R+2 to R+11 but are not in my opinion reliable. http://idlewords.com/mc_candidates.pdf …

Is the DCCC getting into the more obviously competitive of these, such as ME2 or NM2?

In theory, yes, but they are waiting until after the primary. This means wasting months of time that could be spent building our field operations
