You should first check if they fit under the seat in front of you, as overhead space is limited.

If they made them a bit longer (and could take more weight) I’m pretty sure I would prefer sleeping in those to sitting in the seats.

Not true. Small children may kick the doors open and drop luggage on the heads of passengers. Always store children under your seat
