If we could simply replace disability with UBI, it would probably be an improvement. Disability has much worse incentives.

Yeah, but those checks are insultingly small in the face of real obstacles to work. I have a friend who used to work as a carpenter and handyman. After a massive heart attack, any physical labor is just impossible for him. His body can't handle it.

Couldn't UBI replace social security, health insurance, medicaid, food stamps, and other government departments? And when you give someone a set amount of money to spend on healthcare, doesn't that encourage more free market economics where doctors compete for your business?
