Yesterday I took a road trip with Paul Spencer to Searcy, Arkansas. Paul is a pecan farmer and history teacher at a Catholic high school in Little Rock. He's running for Congress.pic.twitter.com/GCD34LmUeS

We were going there to attend a chili cookoff run by the local Democratic Party. They were selling cookies and brownies in the local gym to fundraise for an important local cause.pic.twitter.com/wj4XpEc1Yj
Not long ago, a schoolgirl got her lunch tray physically taken away from her by staff because her lunch account was in arrears. Pressed by angry parents, the school apologized for taking back the tray, but said no child would be served lunch if they owed more than $20
Some schools are refusing to serve children who owe anything on their account at all. They believe this teaches personal responsibility. The Searcy Democrats believe no child should go hungry at school
Candidates for Federal office don't often come to White County. The Democrats there are not fighting over abstract issues. They're determined and stubborn. I tried to buy out their cookies, but they gave me a whole bunch free. The party of handouts!
Paul Spencer's opponent, French Hill, is a wealthy banker with his eyes on higher office in the Trump Administration. He's not coming to Searcy anytime soon, or any of the dozens of communities like it around central Arkansas
It's hard to fundraise for Spencer, because he is such a reluctant candidate. He told me he couldn't look his students in the eye and continue to teach the Constitution, and pretend everything was okay
But he is absolutely determined to win. And I think that he will win, even if he has to fund his campaign by selling honey. But what if he could run his campaign on the back of tech labor, rather than apian labor?
Here's the numbers. Paul has 350,000 voters in his district. He's raised $15,000. You can give his campaign up to $2,700 right now (if you're a citizen or green card holder), and again in the general election.https://secure.actblue.com/donate/paul-spencer-tech-solidarity …
His opponent, French Hill, has raised $730,000. But I don't think that matters. We just have to get Paul enough money so he can take his Volvo around the district instead of fundraising. He'll crush French Hill like a bug.
Here's Paul with the heads of the Searcy Democratic Party, a Methodist preacher and a retired bank examiner for the FDIC. Help them take back Arkansas's second district! https://secure.actblue.com/donate/paul-spencer-tech-solidarity …pic.twitter.com/DHmB4Awbpf
