I wish Flake, Corker and McCain had different positions on many issues during their careers. But that doesn't diminish their recent courage.

I don’t expect them to vote to preserve Obamacare, but they could _directly_ oppose Trump for over a year.

Yes, I'd prefer that, too. I'd also prefer they change their positions on other things. I'm disappointed, but still glad they spoke up.
