we don’t have reliable hurricane data from before WWII
The trend lines from 1950-2017 are significant, particularly in the number of tropical storms that become hurricanes.

Would be interesting to plot average wind speeds and rainfall. Intensity seems to be a bigger factor than occurrences.
you have to be careful how you bin storms by region, too. But all this work has been done by climate scientists! There are papers!
