Having had my electronics confiscated at U.S. border, I'm glad encryption exists and gave me a small way to stand against that.

most will decrypt on demand, it's not fun to have thousands of dollars of electronics that hold large part of daily life taken.

yeah. My beef with Snowden is about his choice of emphasis right now, rather than the merits of what he supports
