It’s hard for me to say. I’ve never used a regular MacBook except kicking the tires in a store. Never got a review unit of those.

I’d say it’s like a better version of the MacBook keyboard though, exactly as
@jsnell has said, and as iFixit teardown suggests. -
iFixit teardown especially poignant this year, as they release their pent-up frustration on a poor piece of aluminum

Coming from my personal 2014 MBP, I’m fine with it. I wish keys had more travel, but they are now clickier, which I like.

The keys have a premium feel to them. And there’s no longer any light leak around the outside of the keys from backlight.

That aside, it is very MacBook-like. Even though I use a MacBook half the time, typing on the new Pro feels jarring/weird.

In short, as someone who’s extraordinarily fussy about desktop keyboards, I wouldn’t hesitate to switch to a MBP w/ this keyboard.
