I'm enjoying watching the political valence of this thing hang in the balance. Is it another devastating impact of climate change, a welcome respite to the severe drought brought on by climate change, both, neither? All storms are a morality play now, but some are harder to call.

High precipitation after intense drought = massive erosion. A storm is not what one wants after a drought.

California gets a lot of its water from snowpack. The more a storm can build that up, the more benefit it gives.
