This is the map of lowest pressure for the last 70 years, you can see it's a record. I think maybe the issue is we're talking about different things? The offshore cyclone is the strongest of its kind; I don't know how its effects on land compare. Fair... the pressure/windspeed of the shepherding storm is not the same as the moisture it scoops up into the "atmospheric river". We seem to be far south of where the cyclone itself is aimed. And there's still a chance it could stall and dump tons more.

Ah yes, two separate things: "Two extreme weather events, a bomb cyclone and an atmospheric river, will combine on Saturday night to bombard the western United States." I've mainly heard about the latter in my area because of the burn scars.
