The Biden Administration's plan for offshore wind farms is to lease them by 2025—potentially one year after it is out of office. Just like British plans to build nuclear reactors that only go online in the 2030's, the climate crisis framing doesn't match the laid-back schedule.

Nuclear reactors usually do take at least 4-5 years to get commissioned. The testing, inspection and approval from USNRC, IEA, WANO can take many months after the construction. And for good reasons.

Not to mention we could build Thorium reactors that are much safer than uranium based ones. But because you can't build bombs with thorium, we don't invest, and Westinghouse ain't spending that money either smdh. Nuclear power IS SAFE and much better to battle Climate Change.

Thorium reactors aren’t any inherently any safer than any other type, the molten salt designs are arguably less safe because molten salt is a nightmare. And thorium fuel cycles make U233, which can absolutely be used in a bomb.

Relying on offshore wind power sounds like a really good idea -- ifif we store enough energy in our crane-powered energy storage we could direct it back into the turbines and make them blow the storm away. That way we won't have to lose power during hurricanes.

It would also be an effective countermeasure against Vikings

And yet… he’s launching a huge new Bitcoin “Web3” scam, which is so great for the environment.

The way all this plays out in countries that got a clue years ago is on windy days you see coal/gas generation falling to zero. Nukes are hard to ramp up & down, so best backup is gas & smart grid (tariffs that incentivise big users eg supermarket fridges to use less at peak)
