If I had to pick five scifi authors who really pushed the boundaries of the medium for our generation, it would probably be: * Liu Cixin * Greg Egan * Ted Chiang * Stephen Baxter * Alastair Reynolds

I gave him the benefit of the doubt, pinning the blame on the translator, but I have to agree. (I wouldn't say the worst, you should try self-published military scifi)
-
But, the description of the dimensional weapon attack in Book 3 is amazing!

It was eccentric, but I suppose he comes from a different literary tradition and it is a translation after all. But I thought the scope of his writing was brilliant.

Actually the author recommends read the English translation. But I too am ambivalent what to think of it.

I had mixed feelings. in one way I thought it was bad, another masterpiece. like reading Asimov or Niven at times. where the ideas and scope and boldness are breathtaking, but it sometimes feels amateur or thin or awkward or something. hard to describe. no strong stand either way
