Whether or not this legislative bloatware passes will have negligible impact on the climate change you'll experience in your lifetime, and unless you're a polar bear, climate change is not an apocalypse, existential threat, or anything like it. People need to have climate chill.https://twitter.com/GhostPanther/status/1443673501609730050 …

Just a reminder as we watch the horse race news coverage on the infrastructure bills and “Biden’s agenda” and “mounting centrist resistance” that the full 3.5 trillion dollar bill is literally our last chance to avoid a global climate apocalypse. That’s it. Have a nice day.

Pretending the world is about to end if we don't create modest incentives for decarbonizing the electric grid in one country is just going to lead people to apathy and despair over the climate issue, which requires long-term creative thinking and planet-wide optimism to solve.

The next decade of climate change is locked in independent of the most radical policy choices, and this is why I believe the climate apocalypse framing will bring us nothing but backlash and failure. If some legislation is do-or-die, what are we supposed to do if it doesn't pass?

This kind of "aha! but you see.." kind of reasoning is just now how people think about politics. The idea that something bad was coming, we should have done something but didn't, so we better act now before it gets even worse makes perfect sense to most people.

The trouble is it is guaranteed to get much worse no matter what we do right now. That is not communicated and it is a very dangerous thing not to mention.

Speaking for myself, I’m going to continue working in the clean energy industry, and you should listen to the people who work in it who say that their work is made slower and more difficult by a federal government that won’t create clear standards or provide financial support

Friend - I had you pegged as an intelligent but standard leftist. Serious question: Have you always been this much of an independent thinker? Is this the same person who was doing crazy campaigning, or is this different post election?

An important goal when campaigning or fundraising is not to antagonize people who are on your side, so there's a lot I wouldn't talk about back then that I feel more free to talk about now. I don't think my worldview has changed much from before.
