You can't disobey an order that was never given. And you shouldn't compare a decision to ignore a warning made under intense time pressure with a military commander making commitments in peacetime to his chief foreign rival outside the chain of command.

You're right that it's hypocrisy, and if he believes in the American system, Milley should be glad to be prosecuted. But the "team in power" should change how we respect the power structure. No atrocity was ever stopped by someone who followed procedure.
