Nobody seems to be running the saner version of this headline, which is that our top military leader conspired with a foreign power outside the civilian chain of command.pic.twitter.com/zdcx5sBuU4

I missed the detail that at least one of these unauthorized backchannel conversations between the top US military commander and the head of the PLA was *90 minutes long*. So who else was this guy calling?pic.twitter.com/yHFQ08bkvj
However noble Milley's motives, the man has got to go. They impeached Trump (and more to the point, dismissed MacArthur) for way less than what he did.
The issue here is civilian control of the military. If the Secretary of Defense had called his Chinese counterpart, this would be much less alarming. But we can't have the head of the armed forces YOLO foreign policy and then remain in command. That's banana republic territory.
Twitter is a wonderful place where people can attack the US military for trying to sabotage Biden in Afghanistan and the next day praise the same military for sabotaging Trump. But opinions on fundamental structural issues shouldn't change depending on whose team is in power.
All valid points but he’s knows just as well as we did that Congress would’ve done jack about because most of them are on his side.
Maybe I watch too many spy movies, but wouldn't our intelligence folks know if one of our top military folks was ringing up a high-ranking chinese military dude?
Yah I think they let this one slide because Trump so cray lol
lol what's Congress gonna do?
And what do you think Congress would have done?
