I get the argument "this is what happens if you elect the Republicans!". But there's a flip side—why doesn't anything happen when we elect the Democrats? After 48 years, why does such a fundamental human right still depend on whether a vainglorious old person decided to retire?

Roe was a weird and unsustainable law. It survived because GOP felt they couldn’t risk killing it. Now they have. So we see how voters really feel (most are women of course).

As to the filibuster — need to ask an expert. I think Dems believe McConnell et al have methods of retaliation that would essentially bring down the government. And they would use them.
