They've already made changes to their scanning plans based on pushback. So I'd say that keeping the pressure on makes a difference.

this is a big project, didn't happen with a couple of low level people overnight, legal was involved, etc., that means they were working on this while they were plastering Vegas with billboards about 'what happens on iphone stays...', so talking out both sides, it's here to stay

I think violation of privacy is a little different than a hardware feature that grew more and more obsolete. More people should be upset about the scanning than the headphone Jack.
