The Pentagon has now fucked up two wars in a row and wasted trillions with no career consequences for failure, and not even much Congressional interest in what went wrong. The same pattern extends to prohibitively costly dead-end weapons programs. There's no way to fail at DoD

Strategically we should have kept the Bagram air base and not abandoned it in the middle of the night. If we ever go to war with Iran and/or China, that would be a MASSIVE asset. This is amateur hour.

I haven't noticed China invading Iraq Iran Afghanistan or Vietnam of late. They also do pay for the minerals they get from other countries rather than install puppet governments.

It was conducted exactly as intended. That annual $500 billion wealth transfer from working & middle class americans to the defense contractor owning upper class in the form of war budgets was hardly a failure, if you managed to get a piece of it.

What did the founding fathers write about the military? Is anyone still able to understand what they wrote about 240 years ago?

It's probably because Congress simply doesn't have the political capital to go after top military brass anymore. The military is the most popular institution in America after "small business". And Congress is the least after... everything.https://news.gallup.com/poll/352316/americans-confidence-major-institutions-dips.aspx …

Why isn't the freedom that Afghans enjoyed, the girls who could go to school, an "outcome"? Why does something have to be permanent in order to be valuable? Nothing is permanent.
