The problem its the job’s “dead-ended-ness,” it’s that it doesn’t pay enough to make a living and/or doesn’t afford basic human dignity. I think those are three separate things, and the last two can be obscured by terminology that simply implies a lack of promotion potential

And also! People use that term to describe people in perfectly satisfying jobs that just don’t seem fancy enough to them.
