So much of the discourse around climate seems designed to make people *feel* a particular way, rather than thinking through what kind of world we'll be living in a decade or two from now, and what we can realistically do about it as individuals, since collectively there's bupkis.

How do you think that's possible, though? You and live under a paralyzed political system, and we just had the experience of the world failing to solve a collective action problem much easier than climate.

There'll still be time for climate hopelessness once Exxon is razed to the ground and salt poured on the ruins but until then climate vindicativeness feels better.

I watched The Newsroom like 8 years after it aired. One episode had on a scientist who, to the shock of everyone, said there was no hope with only 12/20 (I forget) years to stop it. The number was based on the best real science of the time. Science held. ~7 less years to fix it
