I was once trapped on top of a reactor in the uk for a few hours after our monitoring equipment detected higher than usual levels of radioactivity. Turned out that low air pressure had led to more radon than usual leaching out of the concrete. That was a fun afternoon.

I used to work in nuke plants. Radon was the biggest reason why we’d alarm in the control area. It would get trapped in our clothes. It was common during temperature inversions when cold air would be stratified and couldn’t convect up into warmer air at higher altitudes

I worked at a nuke plant for a summer, and the highest level of exposure in the engineering department was someone who showed up to work with radon contaminated clothing.
